Amey has appointed a new legal boss ahead of the departure of longstanding general counsel Wayne Robertson.
The public services provider has promoted legal director Jayne Bowie to the top role, with Robertson set to leave next month.
Bowie joined Amey in 2012 after a six-year career as a senior associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
She trained at legacy Eversheds, working at the firm for three years as a solicitor.
Bowie will lead Amey’s legal team of up to seven lawyers, responsible for legal work, risk management and compliance.
Bowie’s predecessor Robertson has been with the company for over a decade and was appointed as group legal director in 2009.
He qualified as a lawyer at DJ Freeman in 1996, before taking on in-house roles at BT and Accenture.
Robertson presided over a period of great change for Amey, with the company merging with Enterprise in 2013.
He decided against setting up a formal panel of legal advisers in favour of an informal referral system of ten preferred firms.
The panel shakeup followed the exit of Enterprise group legal director Mark Sanderson, who would have reported to Robertson.
Preferred firms have included Pinsent Masons and legacy Morgan Cole.
