A Baltimore man accused of throwing a metal water pitcher at his sentencing judge, hitting her in the forehead, has been charged in the incident.
Travis Burroughs, 36, has been charged with first- and second-degree assault and use of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Chief Judge Wanda Heard of the Baltimore Circuit Court received medical attention after the incident Wednesday, according to a prior Baltimore Sun story.
She was alert while being treated, according to Maj. Sabrina Tapp-Harper, a spokesperson for the Baltimore sheriff’s office.
Burroughs allegedly threw the metal water pitcher after Heard sentenced him to life in prison, with all but 70 years suspended, on charges of sodomy and false imprisonment, according to the Baltimore Sun.
He is already in prison serving a decadeslong sentence for second-degree rape, assault and false imprisonment.
