Osborne Clarke has opened a new office in Sweden with a five-lawyer team hire from Baumgarten Byström Rooth & Partners, Bird & Bird and SEB Merchant Banking.
Baumgarten Byström Rooth & Partners founding partner Fredrik von Baumgarten, Bird & Bird partner Henrik Bergström and senior associate Angelica Lundqvist will join the firm alongside lawyer Isabella Palmgren and SEB Merchant Banking legal counsel Gabriel Liska, who both join as associates.
Prior to founding his firm, von Baumgarten was a partner at Hannes Snellman and at Vinge in Stockholm, and served as managing partner at both firms. He is a transactional services specialist with expertise across mergers and acquisitions, private equity sponsored transactions and general transaction advisory services.His clients include Nordic and international private equity investors and investment banks.
Bergström has broad experience in media, technology and communications, advising leading national, Nordic and international clients in the sector. He was previously the head of the commercial and tech and communications group at Bird & Bird.
Osborne Clarke’s launch in Sweden forms a key part of the firm’s expansion strategy to strengthen and grow its presence in European jurisdictions.

In 2017, Osborne Clarke entered mainland China for the first time, bringing Zhang Yu & Partners to its international network.
According to The Lawyer’s latest European 100 report, Osborne Clarke is currently the fifteenth largest international firm in Europe by number of partners with 103 in total, representing 45 per cent of the firm.
